Senior Technical Manager – GCL Products

Overview

The Senior Technical Manager - GCL Products is the technical authority for Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL) products within the AMS organization, responsible for ensuring product performance, technical integrity, and appropriate application across Environmental Infrastructure markets. This role oversees critical testing programs, manages performance and compatibility data, and ensures that all GCL-related technical guidance and market messaging are accurate, defensible, and aligned with industry standards. Working closely with Sales Management, Product Strategy, and Technical Services teams, the role supports product selection, risk management, sales enablement, and business strategy for GCL products and applications, while representing the AMS region in key industry organizations and technical committees to reinforce Solmax’s technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL) product line performance testing, maintaining a database of test results to guide product selection and risk management decisions;

• Oversee chemical compatibility testing program for polymer-amended GCL products, including testing for product development and for site-specific leachates in support of technical sales;

• Develop and manage a database of historical shear test data;

• Represent AMS Region in engineering or technical industry functions, memberships and committees in a professional and ethical manner. Participate in industry technical committees and organizations such as ASTM, GMA, GSI, IGS-NA and others.

• Attend meetings, conferences, and trade outings to establish new business, solidify relationships, represent company’s interests, and achieve product and industry knowledge.

• Develop and implement, in coordination with AMS CS Sales Management, strategic plans to provide the technical information required for Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL) Products that supports the CS specifying community and customer base.

• Actively assist and contribute to the development of the business strategy for GCL products and applications with short-term and long-term objectives for the AMS CS group.

• Ensure the technical integrity of all GCL messaging to the marketplace.

• Serve as the expert in the fundamental principles of AMS GCL products and applications working with external experts.

• Provide training and support to EBMs for getting GCLs and related products specified.

• Support development and improvement of technical literature related to GCL products and containment applications.

• Work closely with Sales Management and Product Strategy teams to understand the technical needs of our various AMS CS Markets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, i.e., civil, geotechnical, chemical, etc.

• 10+ years related experience in the field of geosynthetics or construction products technical sales.

• Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.

• Knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
